South-South Cooperation

The Special session on the South-South and Triangular Co- operation during the 7th World Urban Forum (WUF 7) is designed to provide an opportunity to reflect on the mecha- nisms needed to foster a greater exchange of policies, prac- tices and challenges between actors and beneficiaries of international cooperation in development with the support of the donor community and the multilateral system under innovative triangular and public-private partnership (PPP) arrangements. The session will focus on “Promoting Equity in Urban De- velopment through South-South and Triangular Coopera- tion”, a topic central to the overall theme of WUF 7. The ses- sion will showcase successful Southern-grown development solutions addressing the need to achieve equity in cities and development carried out with respect to the challenges of a rapidly urbanizing world. In the current developmental era, driven by the post-2015 Agenda, and ahead of the Habitat III Conference, South-South and Triangular cooperation re- mains a unique interactive framework where the “case for equity” becomes a prerequisite for building bridges between people, nations and cities across the globe.
